In this BLOG post I will teach you how to make two of the cutest handprint crafts for Thanksgiving!

There is nothing as sweet and nostalgic as a handprint craft. Looking back year after year at how small their hands used to be...it makes me smile and tear up at the same time!
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to celebrate creativity, gratitude, and togetherness and what better way to do that than with a festive turkey handprint craft?
These adorable DIY crafts are easy, festive, and a wonderful keepsake for parents and caregivers.
Plus, it’s a great way to help kids express what they’re thankful for!
Here are TWO different versions and a free printable to get you started!

Materials:
Turkey Poem Template (Free download HERE)
Washable paint
Paintbrush
Wipes/paper towels
Orange and red marker
Step 1: Squirt some washable paint (we used brown, red, orange, green and yellow) onto a plate or sensory tray.
Step 2: Have the child hold their hand out flat, palm up. Use a paintbrush to lightly brush on the paint. You want a light layer so that you can see the imprints of their hands.
Paint the palm brown for the turkey body, then each finger a different color (if you want!) to represent the feathers.

Step 3: Turn their hand over and press it into the paper. Gently press on each finger and the back of their hand to assure that the paint transfers to the paper. Gently pull their hand off.
Step 4: Let the paint dry. Use a marker to draw the legs, beak and gobbler! If you have one, you could even add a googly eye to make it super fun!
Step 5: Read the poem together. Add the year/date. These make the cutest class activities or family member gifts!

Step 4: Tape or glue down the turkey body into the center of the feathers.
These make the cutest class activities or family member gifts! We love looking at them year after year to see how much they have grown!!
