STEM Color Mixing Activity

Gina

A fun, engaging, hands-on way to combine color mixing, sensory play, motor skills and more!

Materials:

  • Sensory tray or bowl

  • Water

  • Washable paint

  • Sponges, cups, scoops, etc

How To:

  1. Add 3-5 squirts of washable paint into the sensory tray or bowl.

  2. Fill with water & mix until the paint is incorporated.

  3. Add sponges, cups, scoops etc.

This works on SO many skills! While they splash around in the water, they are activating their senses & exploring temperature, colors & measurements. As they begin to mix the different colors together, they are getting a first hand look at how varied colors are created. The pouring & splashing & squeezing is an amazing way to strengthen fine motor skills. Did I mention it is FUN?!?!
